‘Sound of Home’ was written on a picnic blanket in the park. “The song was inspired by a friend’s story about her travels & her love”, Ellyn recounts. “She painted such a vivid picture with her words, it almost felt as if I had lived the experience myself. It made me think about the people & places that made me feel most at home.”

Woods, backed by the string quartet Quatuor Cobalt, strips back the production for her rawest release yet. With her vocals and acoustic guitar at the center, strings and ambience sweep in and out as Woods sings about the feeling of ‘home’ and the peace that it brings.

“What does it mean to miss home? Home isn’t just a location - it’s a whole sensory experience. It can be someone with whom you feel safe or a place that lifts your spirit. I wrote this song many years ago when I had just finished backpacking in BC, where I had spent days by the ocean with my guitar. In those moments I felt truly at peace with life.”

‘Sound of Home’ is the highly anticipated acoustic rendition of Woods’ collaboration with fellow Montrealers’ Sterling Grove, which reimagines the track as an indie-electronic piece and has amassed 7 million streams across DSP’s.
